After our push for the FPL fundraiser we were hoping for a quiet library day, and we got one. Just eight kids–all pretty dignified (well, maybe not dignified). I had a program planned about writing news stories–the 5 Ws (and sometimes one H), but everyone picked up a project of their own choosing: painting, pot holder weaving, melty beads, building with the mega-duplo blocks Ray picked up for a buck at the Good Cents Store.
We sent the kids home with permission slips for our first-ever field trip. We are going to Opperman to hear a symphony concert played by youth orchestras. Our super-wonderful volunteer Jennifer is getting all of us in for free (she is married to the conductor). Keep your fingers crossed. If this works we’ll try some other field trips, which could be even more fun than melty beads.
