A great big thank you to neighbor Rob B for helping us get up close and personal with three amazing animals from The Tallahassee Museum’s education program.

Gear up for a month of machines!  This month we’ll learn about simple machines like levers, pullies, and wedges.

We’ll combine our efforts to make a Rube Goldberg machine which is a complicated machine designed to do a simple task.

We are inspired by this seven year old’s Rube Goldberg machine.

We’re hoping to do something similar … starting with construction of a catapult!

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood

A group of intrepid volunteers arrived ready to tame the wildness of our front yard.  Adrian sat by and helped sort out weeds from flowering shrub, begrudging every moment she couldn’t jump up and prune.  A great big  “Thank You” to Leon Key Club.  You all are the greatest.

NOTE: We’ll be closed for Easter.

The Front Porch Library will be closed Easter Sunday, April 8th.  See you the next Sunday for filming!

Spring is in the air.  Hope to see you at The Front Porch Library.

We have some exciting news.  The Front Porch Library has been selected by documentary filmmaker Amber McKenzie to be the topic of her next film.  Amber is from California — she’s also Jennifer M’s cousin.  She picked The Front Porch Library because she wanted an uplifting and inspiring topic.  She also wants more people to know about our library and thinks that a movie is the perfect way to accomplish that.

We would like you to plan to be at the library on Sunday, April 15th or Sunday, April 22nd (or BOTH!) to be in the production.

On the Sundays leading up to filming, we will be doing some spring cleaning and sprucing up of the front porch and yard.  We’ll also try  interviewing and photographing each other, like professional journalists and filmmakers do.  Library hours are 3  to 5 pm on Sunday.
